2 hour sitting, liquid acrylic on paper 16x20
The most enjoyable part of this project is getting to know people.
What I am learning so far. I would like to spend 2 sessions for each portrait.
I love painting from life.

Paulette Hall, 20x24 liquid acrylic on wood

Portrait of my friend Paulette
Paulette was a real help as she sat for 3 -2 hour sessions. We had a fun couple of evenings in Studio B. I missed our chat sessions when it was all over! Loved having a longer time to work on the painting. I guess that is what I learned from this one. Also, working in the evening... the sun was blinding near the end, I have rearranged my studio for evening sessions.
Looking for volunteers, if you are in the Marietta, Ohio area. you can contact me and be part of this project.

Ok , so what did I learn from this portrait?
Well, I like it better and think the finished product is much more interesting if the subject is looking at or near me while I am painting. I spent 2 hours on this painting. I needed more time, but it was a great warm up. After all this is only the second piece in a long ( at least that is what I am thinking at this moment) involved project overall.
One of the best things about doing portraiture for me is the connection with the sitter. Although this is different because I don't have the eye connection in the finished painting. It was an enjoyable experience to hang out and enjoy Todd.

Shila was my first subject. I only spent 2 hours on this first portrait, it is really just an underpainting at this point....
